Welcome to Cookin’ Comfort

A warm, wide spread of Cookin' Comfort homestyle dishes on a rustic wooden table — sliced smoked brisket and ribs, cornbread, chili with all the fixings, brussels sprouts, mac and cheese, roasted potatoes, pecan and apple pie, and dinner rolls

No Fluff. No fuss. Just damn good food.

If you believe the best meals in life don’t require tweezers, edible flowers, or a culinary degree, welcome home. You’ve officially made it to Cookin’ Comfort.

I started this blog for anyone who appreciates solid, hearty food—the kind that brings a quiet dinner table as everyone digs in. No fluff, no 40-page backstories on each recipe, no pretentious jargon. Just damn good food that actually fills you up, and that is my approach to cooking.

We’re covering a lot of ground here — everything from breakfast to dessert, with plenty in between. Custom spice rubs and killer sauces, low-and-slow BBQ, quick skillet meals, slow-cooker dinners that do the work for you, and bold Mexican and Asian inspired flavors mixed right in alongside classic comfort food. If it’s a real meal someone actually eats, there’s a good chance it’s here.

Truth is, about half of what’s here is made completely from scratch — doughs, rubs, sauces, the whole process start to finish. The other half leans on a good store-bought shortcut here and there, because some weeknights don’t have room for a homemade roux, and that’s okay too. Either way, the end result is what makes the difference.

Whether you need a 20-minute weeknight lifesaver, a weekend smoker project that justifies standing by the pit for eight hours, or a potluck dish that’ll make you an instant neighborhood legend, I’ve got you covered.

Grab a cold drink, turn up the heat, and let’s cook something incredible.
